| A.L.A. Cheer Academy Rules and Policies Fee Schedule (Scroll down completely and read thoroughly) Rules and Policies: A.L.A. Cheer Academy prides itself on having some of the most disciplined, and well mannered cheerleaders around. Our philosophy is...work hard, achieve and continue to believe and we are creating through a positive atmosphere the ability to create today's tomorrows! With this in mind here are some of the rules and standards set to become an A.L.A. Cheerleader or Dancer: Rules and Policies 1. Respect yourself, your squad mates and definitely the coaching staff! If you have a problem please bring it to the director immediately so that conflicts can be dealt with in a professional manner. Thank you. 2. Cheerleaders are to show respect as well by following the listed rules: No jewelry or cell phones allowed in the practice gym area. No cursing or name calling, No dancing in inappropriate ways. No eating or drinking allowed on the performance floor area at any time! 3. Parents and Cheerleaders: Avoid talking negatively about coaches, cheerleaders or other parents with in the studio. This creates wedges and can easily hurt feelings. Lets make special effort this season to keep our comments to ourselves...Girls! What can you say! 4. During any event with A.L.A. Present yourself as a respectful and encouraging parent at A.L.A., we will not always win an event and will not always be happy with the squads, cheerleaders, other parents or even coaches. Be proud of all of our accomplishments and overlook our weak links. Let us learn from our mistakes together and learn to work just as we are...a family. 5. No humiliating a cheerleader/dancer at any times during practice, events, competitions, recital etc...this is absolutely unacceptable behavior at ALA. You would be surprised how often we see this with other teams and I want our girls to feel special, and like winners each and every time! 6. Cheer leading is a sport that requires consistent participation, Please understand, that as a coach I have the obligation to remove children from stunts etc. to help the group to prepare for recital. If on competition the standards are even higher. Attire When attending practice for the first time most parents ask me...What does my child wear and / or bring to practice with them? Here is the answer, Cheer leading shoes are wonderful, but aren't required to practice in UNLESS your child after her first evaluation is a FLIER (one who goes on top of stunts) or is advanced in their gymnastics (at or beyond walk overs, back handsprings, tucks or layouts). We are very casual here at ALA and 85% of the time you will find us practicing in our socks *we have certified cheer mats that cover the practice area. However, if you are a competition team member, cheer shoes come in your uniform package. If you are enrolling into a basic cheer/dance program and /or gymnastics, then you will just need to purchase your cheer shoes (don't have to be "cheer shoes" but just ALL WHITE soft soled tennis shoes) by our recital (end of season). If you are joining a hip hop / jazz pom team then shoes will be discussed further upon need. Clothing...Just wear something light and comfortable, nothing too loose but preferably form fitting> especially if doing gymnastics, or are a flier. No jeans or dresses please..ALA t shirts available for $10 at the office and black shorts keep ALA looking professional and uniformed-however, is optional to recital members and gymnasts. Competition Cheerleader's or Dancers MUST wear ALA gear to each practice! ABSOLUTELY NO JEWELRY! THIS INCLUDES, TOE RINGS, BELLY RINGS, EAR RINGS, NECKLACES ETC.. PLEASE KEEP FINGERNAIL LENGTH AT A ATHLETIC CUT (SHORT) .THIS IS AN ELITE CHEER PROGRAM COMPLETE WITH MANY STUNTING ABILITIES...I WOULDN'T WANT SOMEONE WITH LONG NAILS TRYING TO CATCH ME! Class Time: Class Time will begin and end as scheduled, in the case a class is started late for any reason, it will also be ran over to accommodate your class time. Class Time is closed for viewing so that the cheerleaders and coaches can concentrate and get the most from their class time. Unfortunately, in the past we noticed too much sideline coaching from the parents and this became a huge problem. This is all star cheerleading and the things they learn can have consequences-this, is not sideline cheer, therefore coaches take this very seriously for your child's safety! However, we always try to open up class time the final minutes of practice so parents can watch...but, this is always coaches discretion. Drink: Please bring a bottled water or juice to class. Registration Fee: 1 time! Enrolls you permanantly into the program/ however, if you leave the program and then return a new registration fee would be required: $25 See my uniform costs to other programs: Basic Recital Cheer or Dance: Shell, lettering, New Upgraded straight A line skirt and Bloomies, shoe laces and hairpiece: $65 due on March 1st 2009. We are also CLOSED during Spring Break in accordance to the 'Pike Township' School calendar. -A.L.A. Has the right to cancel a session due to weather hazards, natural disasters, or if a re circulating sickness is occurring and becoming epidemic with in the studio. This can come with very little notice...please check the website if weather seems leery and you are not certain about your scheduled practice. It WILL be posted. I can not be responsible for these situations and because of the amount of students we have...I can not get in touch personally with everyone, this is our main means of communication, thanks. Competition Team Information If you are chosen to represent ALA Cheer Academy as a competitive ALL STAR cheerleader or dancer, There is a parent and cheerleader/dancer meeting scheduled on Sunday, July 18th 2009 @6:30p.m. A parent must represent their cheerleader or dancer and information regarding practices, expectations will be passed out, contracts must be signed and filled out to represent ALA's cheerleading or dance ELITE teams! Sibling fee: $35, for instance 1st child (55) 2nd child (35) 3rd child (25) so on... Recital Team uniforms *non competitive: $65 includes shell, skirt, briefs, lettering, and hair ribbon *NONE of the extra competition fee's apply to you if you are NOT in a competitive squad* IF YOU FIT INTO OUR LAST SEASONS UNIFORMS YOU MAY REUSE THESE. NO UNIFORM FEE WOULD APPLY IN THIS SITUATION! Forms It is recommended that our new members fill out a waiver and medical form BEFORE showing up to practice. This helps me to concentrate fully on your child and not on these things that need done prior. After filling this out COMPLETELY, please return at your first practice session Closures or Important information: ALA reserves the right to close down sessions with out reprocution in the event of severe weather situations, circulating severe sicknesses, Holidays, Holiday weekends etc... If you are unsure if your class is in session it is your obligation to check the website for this information, ALA has many students and it would be virtually impossible for us to personally call each parent. This is our main source of communication. If you don't have a computer, please ask someone to check out the site for you. Thanks. If ALA is closed, then it would be posted on the MAIN PAGE. Pick up and Drop Offs: I absolutely do not mind pick up and drop offs for those students in a 5 or older class (full session) HOWEVER, You MUST come in to sign in your daughter and to sign out. Those who are in the baby squadron 3-5 yrs of age- parents must stay until the session is completed (half session). If you choose to drop off and pick up, you must have a valid way of ALA to reach you in case of emergency (cell phone, pager etc...), Also, you MUST be on time to pick your child up this season or your rights to drop off and pick up may be terminated. Please, Don't be late, Remember...Coaches are paid by the hour and have a life outside of ALA, they shouldn't have to wait for children to be picked up- this could terminate your membership at ALA if it is becoming apparent that this is happening, please be considerate. Sickness or Injury... Welcome to cheer leading! And I don't mean your typical back yard cheer program, we do all the cool stuff (supervised of course)... It is extremely important that as a parent you understand that as with any other contact sport, your cheerleader will be sore, may pull a muscle etc.. Although ALA has a good track record, injury is always a possibility in any sport. If you are a parent who doesn't like direct impact sports or aerobic style programs for your child- you shouldn't participate in this activity. In the case your child is sick, please...please...do not bring them into the studio for practice> as this just causes a chain reaction of sicknesses among us all and takes away productive practices. As a rule of thumb please don't bring your child unless they have been COMPLETELY over their illness for (2) days, Competitive Members should still come to class, but will be quarantined from the rest of the group and may only assist in some stunting techniques but will sit out of all choreography- this is only because the stunting is so complex and missing one stunting practice WILL hurt us, unless the illness is very serious (When saying you must still attend: I am speaking of common colds, menstrual related issues, headaches etc..). Also, please contact us so we know to take extra precautions or notify other parents regarding if it is a serious illness. We appreciate it. |
