| A.L.A. Cheer Academy Rules and Policies Fee Schedule (Scroll down completely and read thoroughly) Rules and Policies: A.L.A. Cheer Academy prides itself on having some of the most disciplined, and well mannered cheerleaders around. Our philosophy is...work hard, achieve and continue to believe and we are creating through a positive atmosphere the ability to create today's tomorrows! With this in mind here are some of the rules and standards set to become an A.L.A. Cheerleader or Dancer: Rules and Policies 1. Respect yourself, your squad mates and definitely the coaching staff! If you have a problem please bring it to the director immediately so that conflicts can be dealt with in a professional manner. Thank you. 2. Cheerleaders are to show respect as well by following the listed rules: No jewelry or cell phones allowed in the practice gym area. No cursing or name calling, No dancing in inappropriate ways. No eating or drinking allowed on the performance floor area at any time! 3. Parents and Cheerleaders: Avoid talking negatively about coaches, cheerleaders or other parents with in the studio. This creates wedges and can easily hurt feelings. Lets make special effort this season to keep our comments to ourselves...Girls! What can you say! 4. During any event with A.L.A. present yourself as a respectful and encouraging parent at A.L.A., we will not always win an event and will not always be happy with the squads, cheerleaders, other parents or even coaches. Be proud of all of our accomplishments and overlook our weak links. Let us learn from our mistakes together and learn to work just as we are...a family. 5. No humiliating a cheerleader/dancer at any times during practice, events, competitions, recital etc...this is absolutely unacceptable behavior at ALA. You would be surprised how often we see this with other teams and I want our girls to feel special, and like winners each and every time! 6. Cheerleading is a sport that requires consistent participation, having someone miss is like eating cake with out a fork-MESSY! Please understand, that as a coach I have the obligation to remove children from stunts etc. to help the group to prepare for recital. If on competition the standards are even higher. Attire When attending practice for the first time most parents ask me...What does my child wear and / or bring to practice with them? Here is the answer, Cheerleading shoes are wonderful, but aren't required to practice in UNLESS your child after her first evaluation is a FLYER (one who goes on top of stunts) or is advanced in their gymnastics (at or beyond walk overs, back handsprings, tucks or layouts). We are very casual here at ALA and 85% of the time you will find us practicing in our socks *we have certified cheer mats that cover the practice area. However, if you are a competition team member, cheer shoes come in your uniform package. If you are enrolling into a basic cheer/dance program and /or gymnastics, then you will just need to purchase your cheer shoes (don't have to be "cheer shoes" but just ALL WHITE soft soled tennis shoes) by our recital (end of season). If you are joining a hip hop / jazz pom team then shoes will be discussed further upon need. Clothing...Just wear something light and comfortable, nothing too loose but preferably form fitting> especially if doing gymnastics, or are a flyer. I can't stand when girls come to practice with tight jeans or dresses or skirts...Ladies! Put an extra change of clothing in the car for times as these...Your at cheerleading for crying out loud! Some of my tween and teen members come looking as if they are trying to enter into a beauty pageant. Cheerleaders...Here me out: Some of ALA's most elite cheerleaders never come looking this way because they want to work and learn something, this may mean you have to get out of the comfort zone a little. This season we are requesting that all competition members wear ALA colors to practice, this will teach self discipline and spirit in our team! Thanks for your cooperation. ABSOLUTELY NO JEWELRY! THIS INCLUDES, TOE RINGS, BELLY RINGS, EAR RINGS, NECKLACES ETC.. PLEASE KEEP FINGERNAIL LENGTH AT A ATHLETIC CUT (SHORT) THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE BACK YARD CHEER PROGRAM, THIS IS AN ELITE CHEER PROGRAM COMPLETE WITH MANY STUNTING ABILITIES...I WOULDN'T WANT SOMEONE WITH LONG NAILS TRYING TO CATCH ME! *Listen, cheerleading has become one of the most expensive sports and has robbed many girls with talent from gaining knowledge in this corner. I will do all I can to keep these costs down! Therefore, please keep in mind...if joining this program...we need to compromise for the sake of all the students in this program so that everyone can have a piece of the pie! I know that some can afford all the bells and whistles...but I know there are some that can not and I develop tight relationships with these girls and refuse to be just any other program out there. See my uniform costs to other programs: Basic Recital Cheer or Dance: Shell, lettering, Pleated Skirt and Bloomies, shoe laces and hairpiece: $50 Basic Information on Recital Teams: -Each Recital Season is (9) months and then ends with an end of season "Recital Performance". After each Recital the cheerleaders, parents, and coaches take a 1 month vacation from practices and are welcome to return to a new season with ALA Cheer Academy. This gives the girls an opportunity to get excited for the new season and rest and also gives the parents a break from the gym life, ha. As well, gives me an opportunity to create new choreography! Our new season begins in : December 2007 (click link to pre register and hold your spot) pre registration form ALA takes students throughout the season: However, if entering after March 1st, 2008, will be unable to do a recital team until next season. -Cheerleaders and/or dancers meet weekly , days and times depend on how many classes are selected -All Holidays and Holiday weekends ALA is "Closed" this includes: Easter, Christmas Holiday 22-26th, New Years Eve and New Years Day, Labor Day Weekend, Memorial Day Weekend, and Thanksgiving. -A.L.A. Has the right to cancel a session due to weather hazards, natural disasters, or if a re circulating sickness is ocurring and becoming epidemic with in the studio. This can come with very little notice...please check the website if weather seems leery and you are not certain about your scheduled practice. It WILL be posted. I can not be responsible for these situations and because of the amount of students we have...I can not get in touch personally with everyone, this is our main means of communication, thanks. This helps me to concentrate fully on your child and not on these things that need done prior. You can click this link to print out a waiver form: After filling this out COMPLETELY, please return at your first practice session, Returning members/New members attending Parent orientation on November 25th 2007 should fill this out prior to as well. New Ideas? Oh, I love new ideas...although, I always make a finalized decisions in the end...I love suggestions, I have found these to be very helpful in the past. Please know that although I may not use the suggestion doesn't mean I haven't thought about or evaluated the idea, it just may not work for many reasons...money, time, or it has already been tried before. Please do know, I appreciate you all and value your suggestions. This season we need an IDEA crew> I need at least a couple of people to designate and organize this crew. The IDEA crew will find ways to help bring in funds for new equipment, music, recitals etc... The IDEA crew will also find new ways to organize camps, cheer birthdays etc... Please tell me if you can help! A.L.A. Life groups? What is this?!! This, I must say has been one of the fun elements and positive grounds of our program. Life groups are FREE and available to any girls within or out of the program, however, there are sign ups due to the amount of kids we have and are physically and lawfully allowed to have in the studio at once. Life groups are held once every month or bi monthly. These groups are for girls 9 or older and we discuss life and moral issues, such as..how to handle peer pressure, and many other issues girls face today. This is always ended in a feast of snacks and fun food! We play games that teach lessons and open up in our circle of sisterhood! We all have to help each other learn and focus and stay on a positive path. Ask about joining the Life groups by e mailing above! Because of the sensitivity of subjects discussed unfortunately no one under the age of 9 can attend, Please know that everything discussed is clean, positive and motivating and in "Parent Favor" if you ever need prepped before a life group: Please click the "Life Group" Link on the home page which will show my agenda for that session. The Life Group link will be available 24 hours before the session day. Thanks! Closures or Important information: ALA reserves the right to close down sessions with out reprocution in the event of severe weather situations, circulating severe sicknesses, Holidays, Holiday weekends etc... If you are unsure if your class is in session it is your obligation to check the website for this information, ALA has many students and it would be virtually impossible for us to personally call each parent. This is our main source of communication. If you don't have a computer, please ask someone to check out the site for you. Thanks. If ALA is closed, then it would be posted on the MAIN PAGE. Pick up and Drop Offs: I absolutely do not mind pick up and drop offs for those students in a 5 or older class (full session) Those who are in the baby squadron 3-5 yrs of age- parents must stay until the session is completed (half session). If you choose to drop off and pick up, you must have a valid way of ALA to reach you in case of emergency (cell phone, pager etc...), Also, you MUST be on time to pick your child up this season or your rights to drop off and pick up may be terminated. Please, Don't be late. I appreciate it deeply! Sickness or Injury... Welcome to cheerleading! And I don't mean your typical back yard cheer program, we do all the cool stuff (supervised of course)... it is extrememly important that as a parent you understand that as with any other contact sport, your cheerleader will be sore, may pull a muscle or in some way be injured. Although ALA has a good track, injury is always a possibility. If you are a parent who doesn't like direct impact sports or aerobic style programs for your child- you shouldn't participate in this activity. In the case your child is sick, please...please...do not bring them into the studio for practice> as this just causes a chain reaction of sicknesses among us all and takes away productive practices. As a rule of thumb please don't bring your child unless they have been COMPELETELY over their illness for (2) days. Also, please contact us so we know to take extra precautions or notify other parents regarding if it is a serious illness. We appreciate it. |
